There are many groups that regulate the oil and gas industry at the federal level, including the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement, and others. It is important that regulations protect the health and safety of United States citizens while not harming the economic activity of the industry. Government regulations can make or break the ability of oil and gas companies to produce the energy resources that are crucial to our nation's economic stability.
Changing political environments and the sheer size of bureaucracy at the federal level can lead to onerous and untimely regulations for the industry. We believe states often have a better grasp on what issues they face, and should be given the power to make necessary regulatory decisions.
