Background Information:

Safety for employees, citizens, and the environment is an important aspect of oil and gas industry policy. As with many industries that deal with machinery and advanced engineering techniques, there are inherent dangers in onshore oil and gas exploration. Thankfully, with appropriate standards and procedures many of the risks can be avoided and protected against. Industry and federal and state governments have established guidelines by which health, property and nature are protected.

Efforts to increase safety include equipment and guidelines such as blowback protectors and Safety Data Sheets put out by industry groups.
