Water Usage

Responsible water management is a key concern in the oil and natural gas industry. As a key resource for our environment, economy, and livelihood, many stakeholders are working to reduce freshwater use and increase recycling and reuse. While the oil and gas life cycle uses water, total consumption accounts for less than one percent of America’s freshwater usage. In comparison, thermoelectric power generation comprises 51 percent and Irrigation 29 percent. Using reclaimed water or recycling helps reduce operational consumption, common practices across the industry.
